Keoni's profound connection to Native Culture stories, legends, and mythology fuels his unique art form, transforming wood into mesmerizing illusions of woven and beaded basketry. Keoni's exceptional talent is nationally acclaimed, with three prestigious Smithsonian recognitions (2023, 2021, 2020), two CM Russell Museum features (2022, 2018), and notable exhibitions at SOFA-Chicago. His mastery has earned him four awards at the Western Design Conference, a 2018 induction into the By Western Hands artisans' guild, and participation in over 20 national juried events, including the Philadelphia Art Museum Fine Craft Show and fine art exhibitions in Sedona, Ft. Worth, Denver, and Albuquerque. He is also a proud member of the Salmagundi Art Club of New York.Crafting each piece entirely by hand, Keoni draws upon tribal imagery from his extensive travels and studies, using Sugar Maple as his canvas. Through a meticulous process involving over 25,000 individual cuts, burns, and colored cells, he brings to life the rich heritage and revered traditions of tribal cultures.
